How To Duplicate A FB Ad Using The Existing Post ID

All right, so, we’ve been having members with issues regarding duplicating ads and using the existing post ID. Now, one thing you got to know about this, I’m going to demonstrate how I do it real quick because there’s a lot of different ways you can create the ad and start all these different processes and stuff like this.

I’m going to walk through exactly how I do it. Now, before I do that though, I got to give the caveat of:  If there’s any errors popping up in your ad, like something is not formatted properly, whether it’s an image or certain copy or something like that, that may throw up a problem when you try to duplicate the ad.

Let me walk through how I do this. All right?

Now, go to whatever ad you want to duplicate and I’m going to check the box over here. And when this preview button pops, I’m going to click that button right there. I’m going to hit this ad preview button and then do Facebook post with comments.

What that does, is that opens up the URL in another browser. You see this? This is the actual post.

Now, you’ll notice that the URL ends with this string of characters right here. Now, if you’re seeing something different than this, like if you’ve got some kind of question mark and then there’s some other characters after this string that appears immediately after posts, then there’s some kind of error on your app. There’s some error in your post. That’s why you’re not able to replicate that post idea, is because it has an error in it.

A non-error post will end like this. Then you can copy that number right there and then when we go to the ad, I’m just going to go straight create, I’m not even going to duplicate here and then I’ll say just save that puppy to the draft.

Then once the ad creation piece comes up here, I’m going to select “use existing post,” enter post ID, paste that puppy right there, hit submit, and then once it works its magic, there you go. I realize I didn’t have my fan page selected up here, was the problem. That’s why it was sitting there running an error.

Yeah, you got to make sure you got your fan page selected up here and it’s got that and then you can put the post ID in there, hit it, and then it’ll pop it all right up like that.

You can even still customize for different placements and do any other edits, too, if you want. Add in URL parameters, different things like that.

There you go! That is how I go about doing it. If you’re seeing anything other than what I showed you, then there’s a problem and that’s why it’s not working. You’ll have to fix something in your ad then and you’ll want to go to wherever the original ad is, edit it, and look at any warning messages that they’re popping up in there for you and address those.

How To Use Ad Relevance Diagnostics

All right, so I’m sitting outside at my favorite café in Bird Rock, San Diego area, and I’m reviewing an ad that I put up yesterday that’s kicking some serious ass right now and just kind of looking through stuff and checking out different metrics and just looking for ways that I can maybe improve this or get it crushing for a long time. Right?

So you understand what I’m looking at here, I’ve spent about $150 already. I’ve gotten 207 outbound clicks and 116 leads that have  opted in from that. So, I’m getting better than a 50% conversion rate.

It’s costing me $1.25 to get a single opt-in to my email list right now with this particular campaign, which is really, really, really unusual for my particular business.

Generally, I’m running plus $8 or more for leads. I’ve had periods throughout this year that were costing me $10-20-plus a lead.

It’s really awesome and I’m just kind of reviewing everything right now. Relevant score is good, but the big thing that I wanted to look at here was these rankings that have showed up now.

I can see here, my engagement ranking, and my conversion rate ranking are showing as above-average, but the quality is saying below-average, the bottom 35% of ad.

I wanted to see what that meant here and I just kind of hovered this and then I clicked this little “see more” button and it brought this thing up.

I read through all this stuff to get me some information about this, but what I found was I clicked on this little link right here.

Because it said, “See recommendations on how to improve your ad’s performance for each combination rank.” So, I wanted to see what the hell that took me to.

It took me out to this page right here and I’m going to give you the link along with this post, and what they’re doing here is actually—the whole article is about optimizing your campaigns for ad delivery and getting the best results.

Now, what they’ve got here is they actually give you a chart that will lay out every possible scenario of what you’re ranking could be in these three different ad relevance diagnostics, and then it has a cause of what’s going to happen if you are in these scenarios. And it gives you a freaking recommendation of what to do to fix it.

So, Facebook will tell you on this article exactly what you need to do to fix your ads or your landing page and they break down like all the stuff in here that would cause these issues across everything.

This is more just of an FYI, as I literally just started reading this a few minutes ago, but the most important piece here that you need to know is actually down here, because it says, “When an ad is meeting your advertising objectives,” so in this case, this is exactly the case for me.

This is actually exceeding my advertising objectives quite a bit.

It says down here, “If an ad is already meeting your objectives, reviewing ad relevance diagnostics may not be necessary.”

It may not be necessary. Sometimes high-performing ads have below-average ad relevance diagnostics rankings and that’s okay! Optimize for your advertising objectives, not for quality ranking, engagement ranking, or conversion rate ranking.

This speaks to a very common issue that I see a lot of people have, is they’ll have an ad that’s working and then like they see some kind of metric and it’s not within some kind of benchmark or it’s not where they have other ads that are at that and then they feel like they need to just start testing, tweaking, refining things to try to improve that metric.

But the fact of the matter is, is if it’s working and you have like a low CTR or you’ve got below-average quality ranking, if the whole thing is working, it doesn’t matter. That’s what trumps everything, all right?

In this case, Facebook is actually telling me, this is fine. It’s totally fine. Because my thing is kicking butt and I’ve got higher numbers over here, so I’m doing really well, it’s fine.

I’m not seeing any slowing down of my ad or anything like that.

Keep that in mind when you’ve got ads, if they’re working and they’re producing results consistently for you, you do not need to change things for the sake of changing things, or you do not need to try to get some metric to a certain level just for the sake of having it at that level.

It doesn’t mean it’s going to perform better. If it’s working, you leave it.

Big Lesson Test Based On Feedback

I’m going to shoot this video is a lesson and also some instructions to my team at the same time because you know how old Jay-Papa-Smooth likes to double up on stuff.

All right, here’s the “sitch.” What you’re looking at is my visual website optimizer. It’s a split test that I was running.

Now, I came up with this split test that I was running.

Now, I came up with this split test based on feedback that I was monitoring on my ads and getting in private messages, a lot of this from people.

People were telling me that they were putting in their legitimate email addresses into my landing page for my playbook that we’re doing right now, and they were getting their email address rejected. People were trying over and over and over again.

This was such a common problem, that I had my team start looking into it. One of the issues that I’m having is my lead costs are way too high and I just couldn’t understand why I can’t drive my lead costs down below like $10 consistently with such a great offer, especially with how the metrics were all working out.

Given this feedback, I charged my team with creating a duplicate version of the landing page. We didn’t change anything on the design of the page at all. Absolutely nothing was changed.

Now, here’s the interesting piece. What you can see is that the only thing we changed was the form code.

Our original code was Infusionsoft and then what we did was we created our own custom code where then we can pass the data into Infusionsoft through the API on the back end.

All we did was remove the Infusionsoft form code on our opt-in form. Our control was the one with the Infusionsoft code and you can see, we got a 17.86% conversion rate in this test.

But my new variation, without the Infusionsoft form code got a 31.75% conversion rate.

That’s almost twice the amount, which assuming this holds, and Visual Website Optimizer is giving me 100% chance that this is going to beat the control, assuming it holds at this almost 2x rate, just by simply making this change, what we’re going to be able to do is effectively lower our lead cost by almost half.

This is super, super, super important on a couple of levels.

The lessons that I want you as a student of mine to learn is that you got to be paying attention to the feedback that you’re getting from people on your ads and stuff like that and in your private messages.

The stuff that they tell you is legitimate. These are people that want to take you up on what you got, and they can’t do it and they’re getting frustrated by it.

You got to make strategic choices based on that feedback and you got to monitor that stuff.

Second, is you got to test everything. Right? Don’t settle. Always test. Always figure things out but base it on what you’re actually receiving back from feedback.

This was a very effective test and what I’m going to have my team now do is the new page that we created, I need you to have the team update the form code on the control page and we’re going to set that as the control.

What I don’t want to be doing is setting a control on this split test because then all it does is it redirects.

When we have a control, I want the elements of—and we run a test and the variation beats the control, then all of the new elements need to go on the control page, so that we always have the same URL as our control URL.

I want you to have the team update the form code on the playbook main page and then I’m going to set this to variation 1 for right now. When you have that update on the control page done, let me know, and then I’ll disable this test.

How To Check Your FB Pixel

The purpose of this video is to help you understand how to interpret the Pixel Helper data when you’re validating your Facebook Pixels in Google Chrome using the Facebook Pixel Helper.

This just helps you to understand how it fires off properly.

Now, what’s going to happen is, when you got Pixels on here, or a Pixel on here, I’ve got multiple Pixels, which I’ll get to in a moment.

But when you have a Pixel on here, what’s going to happen is, is a little green box is going to show or indicate the number of events that are being triggered on that page based on whatever Pixel or Pixels that you have installed on the page.

Right now, this is telling me that there are seven events firing correctly right now because that’s a green box.

Now, when we look into these things, what you’ll end up finding is I’ve got four different Pixels on this page. There’s a multitude of reasons behind that, I’m not going to get into that, it’s not the scope of this video.

But what you’ll see is there’s two, four, six, seven events. You see, this one doesn’t have the micro data stuff being automatically detected. There’s going to always be two different events that are going to fire and you will see something like this.

Sometimes it throws off a warning like this. I’m not really sure why that is like that, but as long as when you visit the page, you see the green box here, everything is fine.

Now, if you have any kind of issues with the Pixel firing off in your account and stuff like that, then it’s definitely going to be a tech issue and you’re going to have a lot of those kinds of tech issues that will come up when you’re using third-party apps, like Click Funnels, Lead Pages, WordPress.

You’ve got plugins and stuff like that. You want to make sure that you’re not double-coding your pages because if you go in and hard code the Pixel into the source and then you use a third-party plugin at the same time you put your Pixel in there, those two things will conflict with each other or cause problems in a variety of different ways.

You want to make sure that you’re not doing those kinds of things and just making sure that everything shows up all green on here.

If you’ve got one Pixel and it’s got two events like this, that’s not an issue. That’s normal. That’s how it’s supposed to look.

How To Set Up Facebook Attribution Tool

All right, in this video, I’m going to walk through the Facebook Attribution Tool and kind of unfold how this thing works in a training video here. I haven’t actually used this.

I found this article here that was published October 19, 2018. It is June 13, 2019. It’s a few months old at this point.

I haven’t played around with this feature inside of my Ads Manager, which if I go to the Ads Manager right here and we go to the dropdown box over here, it’s this link under measure and report called Attribution.

I found this article because one of the things that’s been an issue that I’ve been seeing for a long, long time, much longer than since this article’s been published, is actually figuring out how to attribute conversions.

If you’ve run Facebook ads for a long time, you’ll see all kinds of weird things going on in your reporting, where stuff will show one day and then it will show a different number the next day. That is what we call attribution, in essence.

The system is trying to figure out what ads to assign the conversions to. When we’re tracking leads and sales and all of this stuff.

When we run these complex campaigns that have multiple audiences and multiple ads and we’ve got all these other assets online, like YouTube videos and multiple URLs and your Facebook fan page and all kinds of other content that’s being put out in different places, the customer journey is nonlinear.

The way that most people try to think about this stuff is in a linear fashion and the unfortunate reality is, is that the conversion doesn’t happen in a linear fashion. It happens in a nonlinear fashion.

That’s why it’s very difficult for these systems to pick this stuff up and for us to be able to ascertain actionable data, actionable insights from this data.

That’s what we’re going to try to do with this Facebook Attribution Tool I found, is they’re trying to basically make it so that we get those insights.

We need to be able to fully understand the path that our customers are going through in order to buy so that we know how all of these different things relate to each other.

Where are they hitting your stuff with mobile? Where are they hitting it with desktop? All these other things.

They don’t give you a whole lot of information on this article, other than to tell you what I basically summarized here; however, I’ll give a link to this page, along with the video.

Now, we’re going to hop over here and go ahead and start setting this up. Like I said, I’ve never actually used this before and so I’m going to just walk you through it and kind of take you through my journey with it and hopefully you’ll be able to use this in your business and the information that we’ll get from this will help us to make better-informed decisions inside of our campaigns.

It looks like we get to set how our business is organized. Now, in this case, I’m going to choose single business because this is an account that I use to promote my own products and services.

I’m not running any agency kind of stuff out of this account. We can give this thing a name and we’ll just call this the JH Media Accounts.

Looks like need to click this set up line of business button and it has us choose the ad account, so I’m going to grab the ad account that I want. Click next.

And then I want the Pixel from that account and click next.

These are the people who get to view the attribution reporting for this line of business, so I’m going to grant the people that I want to have access to the attribution reporting and click next

So, the time zone, I have to choose Central Time, because my ad account is on Central Time. I want it to line up with that and then I’m going to choose my U.S. dollar.

I was actually wrong, it’s on Pacific Time, for some reason. I had looked at this and it said my recommended was this. I would actually go ahead and make sure that you do that and choose the recommended one.

I just wanted to verify my account because I want to make sure the account is lined up with the settings that we have in there because otherwise, we’re probably going to get some different numbers between reports, and I want to try to eliminate that.

I’m going to click that confirm and that’s what it’s done now. I’m going to go ahead and click finish.

It looks like my line of business was successfully activated, so I’m going to continue to attribution. What is should be doing now is pulling in data from my Pixel and from my ad account. I’m going to walk through this.

Right now, what it’s doing is it’s pulling in data right now. There’s nothing that I can really go into and look at in this right now, but once all the data is in here, then we’ll be able to start getting some insights apparently and I’ll create more videos walking through how I’m using that and the tests that I’m going to be running in my ad account, based on that information that I’m finding in there.

That’s how you go ahead and set up the Facebook Attribution to be able to look into this information and use it. I would highly recommend that you go ahead and set that up.
